Pies Plus Speakers Allen & Teresa Peratt

Teresa and Allen Peratt were born and raised in San Diego, CA, where both survived abuse as children. Teresa quit school after the 8th grade, and, at the age of 15, moved in with her future husband, Allen Peratt, with the permission of her parents. She began smuggling drugs across the Mexican border in her mid-teens with Allen. They were both IV users of any drug that was water-soluble but mainly used heroin and meth for more than two decades. As a result, Allen went to prison in Chino, CA and in South Dakota. After going through recovery and discovering freedom in Christ, Al became a pastor. He became the first ex-convict chaplain and counselor for South Dakota Maximum Security Prison. He also serves as a chaplain at Volunteers of America, spiritual advisor at Keystone Treatment Centers and recently retired as pastor of Set Free Ministries, Sioux Falls. Teresa has worked as a Certified Addictions Counselor for the past 18 years. Allen has been in recovery for 30 years, and Teresa recently celebrated 23 years in recovery.
