About Passages

View the above video for an overview of the Passages program.

Passages Women's Transitional Living is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. We are a faith-based ministry, not affiliated with any church or denomination, focused on providing reentry services to women making the transition from incarceration, homelessness, and treatment centers.

Passages is modeled after the highly successful Chrysalis Women's Transitional Living Inc., founded in Boise, Idaho by Marsha Tennyson in 2001. Passages, like Chrysalis, helps women take the necessary steps which take them away from their former destructive lifestyles and towards independence. The project started to take shape in 2008 and by 2013 the first resident woman moved in and Passages Women's Transitional Living was born.

Our Vision, MIssion & Statement of Faith

Our Vision, MIssion & Statement of Faith

Our Vision, Mission & Statement of Faith

Mission Statement - To guide and support women through a transformational process for positive sustainable life-change.

Vision Statement - Women coming from incarceration and/or homelessness achieving their ultimate potential.

Statement of Faith - We believe:

  • In one God, who exists in three Persons the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is loving, holy and just.

  • The Bible is God’s Word. It is inspired and accurate. It is our perfect guide in all matters of life.

  • Sin has separated us all from God, and that only through Jesus Christ can we be reconciled to God.

  • Jesus Christ is both God and Man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He led a sinless life, took all our sins upon Himself, died and rose again. Today, He is seated at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Mediator.

  • Salvation is the gift of God to man. This gift is affected by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and it produces works pleasing to God.

  • Water baptism is an outward act that demonstrates a believer's identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

  • The Holy Spirit is our indwelling Comforter, teacher and guide for all areas of our lives. He also blesses us with spiritual gifts and empowers us to yield the fruit of the Spirit.

  • Holy Communion is a celebration of Jesus’ death and our remembrance of Him.

  • God wants to transform, heal and prosper us so that we can live blessed and victorious lives that will impact and help others.

  • We are called to preach the gospel to all nations.

  • Our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again just as He promised.

The Need for Passages

The Need for Passages

The Need for Passages

The number of women in prison has increased 400% since 1986, but we know:

Passages cOSTS LESS THAN INCARCERATION iT COSTS $30,000 TO KEEP ONE WOMAN INCARCERATED FOR ONE YEAR. a STAY AT pASSAGES COSTS LESS THAN ONE-HALF OF INCARCERATION.

Passages rEDUCES RECIDIVISM tHE NATIONAL RATE OF RECIDIVISM (RETURN TO PRISON) IS 68%. pASSAGES RECIDIVISM IS LESS THAN HALF THE NATIONAL RATE.

Passages targets the heart of the problem of reincarceration - the rotating prison door - with its Transformation Program. When a woman successfully completes the program she will go on to experience a positive impact upon her own life as well as on those around her and in our communities.

Without Passages, many women coming out of prison will have no place to go except back to their old lives.

With very few options available to assist in the overwhelming time of re-entry into a responsible lifestyle for these women, Passages is filling a substantial need.
