Christmas is almost here!!! Hard to believe! Passages has already been generously blessed with a “Dinner of Honor” for the ladies of Passages and the WEAVE program in Custer at Living Outreach Church in Custer. They spoiled us with steaks, lasagna, service, and gifts. Chariots of Light Christian Motorcycle Club presented both programs with funds to purchase Christmas gifts for the women in their programs. The evening was a wonderful time of bonding, getting to know others, experience blessings and be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, the most important gift of all..Jesus Christ and all the blessings he brought us.
Tammy continues to be a blessing to Passages. Things overall have been going well at the house. Holidays are a tough time for many of the women. The stability, consistency and structure that Tammy provides in the house has been a true asset. The women have the Christmas tree up in the downstairs living room and presents are under the tree. They also have a small tree up in the living room upstairs. The house looks festive and inviting.
We have five women in the house, and the sixth will arrive on December 18. Our senior most woman, Liza is in her 17th month and will finish with 18 months in January. She will be the first to complete the entire 18-month program and we are so blessed to have had her a part of our Passages family! Please keep her in prayer as she plans for her future beyond Passages.
We have seven more applicants, four who have been accepted and are working on workbooks while still in the South Dakota Women’s prison. The other three are still in the application process. We may not have beds for all of them as we only take six to seven-women at at time and we only expect two empty beds by Feb which is when many of them have parole hearings. Two women on the waiting list are women who have been at Passages before. They both are coming with more surrender and hard learned lessons than before. I think of the story of Peter as he was so devastated when he denied Christ. However, Jesus still loved him and accepted him.
Christmas Eve is on a Sunday although it is not the last Sunday of the month. Some of us plan on going to the house and spending some time with the women. Not sure what we will do for dinner that night, but wanted to treat the ladies with something special. I am not sure if we will open gifts that night or if they will do that Christmas morning. I will leave that up to the women. Our Month End Program will be on New Years Eve this year. Please come and attend if you are able! We don’t have a church to provide a meal so those who come please bring some kind of “finger food”. Healthy snacks and good dessert snacks. We can make sure there is bottled water, napkins and paper plates. It will be a fun celebration night and we will have the program participants share instead of having a speaker.
We will be at United Methodist Church on 7th & Kansas City. at 6:00pm.
Please pray for: the women in the house; the women coming to the house for their hearts and minds to be prepared; for the volunteers and staff; and for the finances for the program operations and grant writing process that is occurring. Also please keep the women who have left the program in prayer.
Please let us know your prayer requests so that the Passages Participants, Volunteers and Staff can be praying for you.
